Synopsis

A top-secret research institute in the Amazonian Rainforest where "dreams come true?" What kind of malarky was this? Gustav scoffed. Did this eccentric nutjob believe he would drop everything and hop on a private jet to South America because of some half-baked, pie-in-the-sky sales pitch? He was old, for god sake, not stupid! But then again, he was ... old. This may be his last chance to take back what Fate had stolen from him; what she had stolen from them all!

Travel through time and across continents with a small group of people whose fates are irrevocably entangled. Discover how tribespeople from South America, Nazis from WWII Germany, a mysterious French woman, and an elderly grandma from Texas all wind up in the same jungle, holding humankind's future in their hands. Also ... Welcome to Imagīne.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deeply enthralling twists of time!

This is one of the best books I have ever read, and I am an avid reader. The author sets an amazingly in-depth character plot spanning 80 years. The twists and turns keep you wanting more. It is powerful, emotional and full of imagination! I literally could not put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, extremely imaginative

Great book, extremely imaginative. It encompasses a lot of genres, which I think is really neat. It's one of those books you read that starts to affect your daily life. It makes you very thankful for the people that are in your life and gives a desire to be more imaginative and creative. I've found myself thinking out of the box more since reading this book, so I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully woven story!!!

This is the one of the most engaging books I have read in a long time, and I read a lot! The story takes all kinds of surprising twists and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The journey you take with these characters is so emotional, funny, sad, heartwrenching and bittersweet. Never before have I dropped into a story that was so creatively woven together. There are so many different paths you travel on yet they all bring you to the center of the most beautiful web - pure artistry.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Somewhere in Time" meets "The Diary of Anne Frank."

"Tangled Fates," a tale painted by artist Ali Mignonne, should appeal to lovers of Romance, History, War Stories, and Sci-Fi. The story takes place in four countries and most of the 20th century, covering the adventures of couples who have loved but lost, due to the nature of WWII, who pick up the shattered pieces of their lives in hopes of recovery. Follow the quests of Gustav Braun, Emerald Snow, Ruby Russell (& others!) as they seek to repair their lives destroyed by Herr Wolf, whose evil put in motion a family train wreck in slow motion. The author somehow relates the suffering people go through whose lives haven't been what was hoped for, whose circumstances didn't live up to what they expected. Ali Mignonne hasn't just written a book; she's written a multi-generational love story, a movie trilogy, or a television mini-series and will employ many actors for years to come. Two thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars This was a great story. Hard to put down

This was a great story. Hard to put down. I was intrigued by how the author "tangles the fates" of so many of the characters. Interesting twists. I was sorry when the book was over. I hope there will be a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read!

Ali Mignonne’s "Tangled Fates" is a marvelous novel that fuses together themes of historical fiction and magical realism. In embodying a multitude of genres, this piece features numerous diverse voices: those of which identify with differing races, genders, and religions. Individual characters face unique struggles, though grow together through raw and emotional relationships made amongst one another. While one part of me found pieces of myself in characters I share similar identity factors to and in relationships I can connect with, I was simultaneously being challenged by those who are different from me. Moreover, with the reading of this novel, I was able to gain knowledge and perspective about the various hardships faced during and post World War II. It seems as though there is integrity and respect for the historical aspect of this novel; it is evident that the author, Ali Mignonne, has put the time and work into performing the proper research. The credibility of this history is so necessary, and is essential to the awareness of current & past racial and religious stigmas made against those who are marginalized. This is a must-read for those who are interested in learning more about the history of World War II from first hand perspectives, or for those who are intrigued by ways in which this bit of history can be embedded with mind-blowing magical realism, and/or for those who simply are looking to learn and connect with diverse voices. Each character is vibrant and dynamic, the relationships are lively and passionate, and the ways in which this story unfolds is truly striking. As a reader, I am not usually one to be drawn to historical fiction nor magical realism, however this work has changed my preferred genres entirely. In this book, various worlds collide and everyone’s wishes are met. I was hooked the entire time, and I am hoping for a chance to read more! Bravo, Ali Mignonne. By far, Tangled Fates will always be one of my favorite novels!
